Hello, I’m Nicky and I needle felt with vibrant coloured wool to create distinctive and tactile art, a range of printed greeting cards and one-of-a-kind brooches that reflect my observations of shapes, textures and colours found in nature.
Birds and flowers are my focus, which I make into stylised forms. For the original artwork I use bright coloured roving wool which I hand needle felt with a singular needle and embellish with hand embroidery stitches after edging with metal zip detailing. The elements are all created individually and then mounted on card at different levels to add extra depth and dimension to each finished piece before photographing them to create high quality professionally printed greeting cards.
I hand needle felt every brooch with a singular needle and edge them with antique brass finish metal zips. Feeling soft, very tactile and light in weight, with firm structure and strength from the zip outline. And the metal edging detail gives a lovely glint in the sunshine – Believe me, you’ll get loads of compliments wearing one!
I opened my Etsy shop in 2022 and have since posted thousands of cards to customers worldwide; my range is also currently stocked in several UK and USA shops.
