Hi I’m Jill, I’ve lived in Macclesfield on and off since the age of six. Three years ago my husband and four children encouraged me to start painting again. So after a 25 year break from being a textile designer I created my first card for Christmas. I had it printed and gave it to my friends and family. I must have enjoyed being creative again because I haven’t stopped since!
I now sell my cards and prints to local shops around Cheshire and notable National Trust properties, including; Lyme Park, Tatton park, and Quarry Bank Mill.
My affinity for art is partly owed to my father. His niche-of-a-job was the restoration of beautiful antiques. This was true artistry; the craftsmanship involved in their care was mesmerising.
l can easily spend hours immersed in my own floral world, content, listening to an audio book. There is something magic, watching a canvas become a painting. Layer by layer it becomes an extension of you.
Every day I surprise myself with my drive to move forward on this creative journey but every goal I have set so far I have reached. My latest being exhibiting in Altrincham’s Goose Green Gallery.
For 32 years I have been a mother and a wife and now I am trying something else: being an Artist.
