From the Sea by C

Hi my Name is Catherine and I’m the “C” in From the Sea by C.

Having grown up on the Northeast coast of England, as a family we spent many hours on the beach and this ignited a passion for beachcombing.

Some years later whilst visiting my family we were walking our dog at the beach and I thought how nice it would be to incorporate some sea glass and pebbles into art. I spent some time thinking through ideas and possible designs and after fantastic feedback from my family and friends I decided to launch my business.

I spend hours beachcombing when I ‘go home’ and I do this sometimes alone with the dog, with my family or a few close friends and then my gorgeous mam washes and sorts the glass and pebbles for me.

The glass I use comes from Seaham which housed a bottle factory in the 1850s and dumped waste glass into the sea every day! The bottle factory closed in the 1920’s but the glass is still being washed up today meaning most of the glass is around 100 years old !

I work from a little studio at home creating my own unique designs. I undertake commissions and I’m privileged to work with my clients to create a piece of art they are happy with.

I also handcraft pieces of artwork, cards and gifts to sell at local artisan markets.
