A contemporary artist, I have lived and worked in Macclesfield for just over forty years, loving this bustling town, it’s people and the beautiful surrounding countryside, which has always been a huge inspiration for my art.
Recently the pandemic necessitated that I focus more closely on the flora of our parks and gardens and my own cottage garden in particular. Colour is a huge component of my practice and I work in a loose, expressive and experimental fashion. Using mixed media, collage and acrylics to build up many layers, sanding and scraping back.
A dialogue is created between myself, the process and the painting until we all feel that the painting is finished. Through this process I have noticed that more recently my work is verging towards abstraction. I have taken part in many exhibitions including Barnaby, The ECH Art Fair and my work can be found in private collections, locally, nationally and internationally.
An exciting new development was being invited to be part of a collective of diverse local female artists aptly named The Northern Girls. Our aim is to support and exhibit together and with one very successful exhibition behind us we have another one coming up at the wonderful Clonterbrook Gallery near Siddington.
